 Madagascar declared red alert

Red alert has been issued in Madagascar due to downpours that have caused floods and landslides.

According to FloodList, at least 10 people have died so far.

The National Disaster Agency reported that more than 75mm of rain fell in Antananarivo in the last 24 hours. Heavy rains caused great damage to the capital.

Some bridges collapsed due to bad weather and agricultural land was flooded. About 500 people were evacuated. The red level of danger was introduced because the water level in the Sisaoni River rose by 68 cm for half an hour. embed]
