Homeland Security Minister Omer Bar-Lev never ceases to amaze Israelis with his new initiatives to restore order in the country.
After another murder in Umm al-Fahma and the riots that followed, Bar Lev issued the following startling statement: “ I held talks with the head of the municipality of Umm al-Fahma in an attempt to find out if there is any further action possible in order to calm the city down and prevent the escalation of violence. The Mayor informed me that the Sulha (Reconciliation) Committee and he personally have been working tirelessly over the past two days to prevent further deterioration of the situation. The mayor is in constant contact with the police and I told him that I am ready to answer any of his requests at any time. ”
More than 1,000 people attended the funeral of Muhammad Burgal, who was shot in his own car three days ago. The murder was followed by riots, a complete loss of control in Umm al-Fahm, a car bombing attack against MAGAV fighters and shooting in the Jaber quarter.
Numerous conflicts within Arab society have led to a series of high-profile murders, with seven, eight, and even nine victims. Even in the very process of the “ sulhi '', which the Minister of Internal Security Bar-Lev is counting on, Arab crime clans are interfering. Sulha, in theory, should end with the payment of the ransom by the guilty party to the victim. We are talking about very large sums of money – and it is at this stage that gangsters intervene in the process. Sources in the & ldquo; Arab Triangle & rdquo; told a Ynet reporter: & ldquo; Sulkhi featuring & ldquo; respected people & rdquo; give nothing. Only when big gangsters interfere in the process, everything calms down. Gangsters are doing this for monetary gain. ” >
In addition to the 120 Arabs already killed this year, hundreds are still targeted for vendetta or criminal attacks. The first reaction to the murder is the burning of the house of the alleged culprit, which happened in Umm al-Fahm and earlier in Nazareth, and the flight of the family to another part of the country.
