 A lightning strike killed an elderly couple near the White House

An elderly couple from Wisconsin, James and Donna Mueller, died after they were struck by lightning near the White House in Washington.

BBC reports.

> The fire department specified that the dead were in Lafayette Park during a severe storm.

Two more people were injured as a result of a lightning strike. They were injured and taken to hospitals.

The White House extended its condolences to the families of the victims.

“We pray for those who are still fighting for their lives,” Karin said. Jean-Pierre, White House Press Secretary.
