“Kanye was right”: the Jewish cemetery was desecrated with a swastika

News » Incidents

American media reported on Monday that a Jewish cemetery in suburban Chicago had been defaced with anti-Semitic graffiti. At least 16 tombstones were painted with swastikas and another 23 graves were defaced at Am Ehod Cemetery in Waukegan, Illinois. “KanyeWas Rite”, probably meaning “Kanye was right” and spelled with a grammatical error, was spray-painted on the tombstone at the couple's grave.

“We have no words to describe this depravity and evil”, — tweeted the StopAntisemitism watchdog group.

David Goldenberg, Anti-Defamation Regional Director Midwest League, said, “Desecration of graves is as low as it can be, and by the way, it's also as cowardly as it can be.”

The police have launched an investigation into the vandalism.

The formerly neo-Nazi “Goy Defense League” posted a banner in Los Angeles that said “Kanye is right about the Jews” over the highway overpass.
