 Jordan urges UNRWA funding to continue

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Jordan Ayman Safadi emphasized the need to diversify the sources of funding for UNRWA (the United Nations agency to assist Palestine refugees) in order to ensure the sustainability of its funding. .

Safadi spoke on the phone with the Director General of UNRWA and stated that Jordan will continue to coordinate with international partners to mobilize support for UNRWA and called on donors to make multi-year commitments.

Safadi also welcomed the decision of the UN General Assembly in December 2022 to renew the agency's mandate, highlighting its important role in providing essential services to 5.7 million Palestinian refugees.
The representative of Jordan stressed the need to continue UNRWA's activities until the issue of Palestine refugees was resolved in accordance with the relevant international documents and resolutions, as well as in accordance with the two-state solution.
