Jewish community members sound the alarm after Orban's 'race mixing' speech

Representatives of the Jewish community are sounding the alarm after the Hungarian leader Viktor Orban spoke out against the creation of “mixed-race peoples”.

In his speech in In the Romanian region of Transylvania, home to a large Hungarian community, the 59-year-old ultra-conservative Hungarian prime minister criticized mixing with “non-Europeans”.

Calling Orban's speech “stupid and dangerous”, the Auschwitz International Committee urges the EU to continue to distance itself from “Orban's racist overtones and let the world know that Mr. Orban has no future in Europe.”

The speech reminded Holocaust survivors of “the dark times of their own alienation and persecution,” the committee said in a statement.
