The Winter Festival, which features about 30 ice sculptures, is attracting many tourists to a hot spring resort in Japan's northern Hokkaido prefecture.
The annual Ice Festival has begun on Saturday at the Sounkyo resort in Kamikawa city.
Tourists were photographed against the backdrop of colorfully illuminated ice sculptures on the Ishikari River.
For the first time in 3 years, when the festival was not held due to the pandemic coronavirus, a bar and a booth serving snacks have been set up. A bar where visitors can enjoy cups of hot sake or cocoa at tables made of ice was created right inside the ice statue.
The festival will last until March 12.
