Japanese airline will remove letter "Z" from planes

Tokyo-based Zipair, a low-cost subsidiary of Japan Airlines, has announced that it will be removing the “Z” from its aircraft livery.

Letter "Z" previously worn on the tail fins of the company's aircraft, it will now be replaced with a stripe pattern.

According to CNN, the airline's president said that Zipair customers have already expressed their concerns about the airline's existing logo due to associations with the Russian invasion to Ukraine.

“Although customers acknowledged and understood that our logo was created in 2018, that is, before the current situation, they shared their concerns in order to demonstrate support for the airline,” the company said.
