Japan reopens to foreign tourists two years later

After a two-year closure to tourists, Japan is reopening its borders to visitors from 98 countries and regions.

BBC reports.

The country's government recently raised the limit on the number of foreign citizens arriving per day to 20,000 from June 1. From June 10, tourist groups will be allowed to enter the country.

All countries will be divided into three categories risk – red, yellow and blue – which will determine whether tourists can bypass quarantine measures.

Japan has remained closed to tourists since 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, which has hit the tourism business hard.< br />
