Japan records record COVID deaths

Japan recorded 415 COVID-19 deaths on Wednesday, the highest in a single day, according to health ministry data.
The country recorded 216,219 new confirmed cases of coronavirus, up 4% from a week earlier, approaching an all-time high of 260,000 per day in August.
Over the past seven days, according to World Health Organization estimates, Japan has the world's highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases and the second highest number of deaths after the United States.
