Japan to launch first hydrogen train

East Japan Railway Co will begin testing the country's first hydrogen-powered train.

Trials will begin in March, Bloomberg reports.

The train was developed jointly with Toyota Motor and Hitachi. Its cost is 4 billion yen. On one refueling of hydrogen fuel, it can travel up to 140 kilometers.

The first hydrogen train for Japan is planned to be launched for transportation in 8 years, in 2030.
