 Israeli polio outbreak under control

The polio outbreak in Israel has been largely contained and brought under control.

This was stated by the head of the Israel Public Health Service, Sharon Elroy-Price, reports The Jerusalem Post.

Elroy-Price said no polio virus has been detected in sewage in the past month. However, the Ministry of Health will be able to confirm that the outbreak is finally over only if this situation continues for another five months.

“The outbreak appears to be under control. The Ministry is very happy. The World Health Organization, which oversees and controls polio vaccination worldwide, has praised Israel and its public health experts for taking swift and effective action to end the outbreak. We are monitoring the situation and constantly checking the sewers,” Elroy-Price said. .
