First self-contained supermarket opened in Israel

For the first time in Israel, supermarket shoppers will be able to take groceries off the shelves and leave without queuing to pay, thanks to Shufersal's new stand-alone grocery store.

On Thursday, Israel's largest supermarket chain announced the opening of the country's first stand-alone grocery store that allows shoppers to pay and receive receipts digitally.

A new 1,080-square-foot Shufersal store near the Tel Aviv waterfront operates from the base Israeli startup Trigo, which is also working on building offline grocery stores in the UK, Germany and the US.
