Israeli judoka wins Grand Slam in Paris

Israeli judoka Gili Sharir won the gold medal in the 63kg division at the Judo Grand Slam in Paris on Saturday, beating Japanese judoka Nami Nabekura in the final.
Poland, Canada, France and South Korea.
“I am very happy that I was able to win my first Grand Slam gold medal after very long and difficult fights. Many thanks to my wonderful family and good luck to all involved”, – said the champion after her victory.
Another Israeli athlete, Gefen Primo, won bronze in the 52 kg category, defeating Brazil's Larisa Pimenta. She defeated opponents from Portugal and Mongolia in previous rounds before losing to France's Amandine Bouchard in the semi-finals.
Israel women's judo team coach Shani Hershko praised the athletes for their hard work.
“A very successful competitive day for the women's team, which ended with two prestigious medals. I am very proud of the team and the athletes for their commitment and hard work”, – Hershko said.
