Israeli judoka Sagi Muki takes “gold” at the Grand Slam in Tel Aviv

Judoka Sagi Muki won the gold medal on Friday at the Grand Slam in Tel Aviv, his first individual medal in nearly two years.

Muki finished first in the 81kg category by defeating his Turkish rival Vedat Albayrak 12 seconds into the fight.
He advanced to the final by defeating four other opponents.

His last individual medal was in April 2021 when he won bronze at the European Championships. That summer, he was part of the Israeli team that won the bronze medal in mixed judo at the Tokyo Olympics.

Among women, Gili Sharir placed fifth in the 63 kg category, and Maya Goshen was seventh in the under 70 kg.
