COGAT, which regulates the passage of Palestinians into Israeli territory, has announced that some travel restrictions for Palestinians will be eased during the upcoming Eid.

COGAT, a division of the Ministry of Defense that is also responsible for entry permits, said its office has approved the measures. Eid al-Adha, celebrated this year from 9 to 13 July, is one of the Muslim calendar and is traditionally accompanied by large family feasts.

“We emphasize that the issuance of all permits, both for the inhabitants of Judea and Samaria and for the inhabitants of Gaza, will be subject to a security assessment,” —

Palestinians will be given special permission to visit family members in Israel. Approximately 500 residents of Judea and Samaria will be allowed to fly out of Ben Gurion Airport, and another 200 people will be able to visit the southern city of Eilat.< br />
Tighter restrictions will remain in Gaza due to the strong influence of the terrorist group Hamas in the area. However, 400 Palestinians from Gaza will receive permits to visit Jerusalem during the holy holiday. COGAT also reported that Israel will allow another 500 Palestinians from Gaza to visit families in Israel, Judea and Samaria.

According to COGAT , only men over 55 and women over 50 are eligible to participate in the program.
