Israel: threefold increase in the number of repatriates from Ukraine and Russia

There is a threefold increase in the number of repatriates from Ukraine and Russia in Israel. This is happening against the backdrop of the war in Ukraine, according to the Times of Israel.

According to the Israeli Central Bureau of Statistics, from February 24, when the invasion began, to July 31, 12,175 repatriates arrived from Ukraine, and 18 from Russia. 891 people. In total, 31,066 people repatriated to Israel over a five-month period.

This is 318% more than in the same period in 2019. Then 2,651 repatriates arrived from Ukraine, and 7,123 repatriates from Russia.

In the period from February to July, 73.9% of repatriates from Ukraine aged 18 to 60 were women, and 26.1% – men. The Central Statistical Bureau attributes this trend to the laws in force in Ukraine, according to which men between the ages of 18 and 60 are prohibited from leaving the country, except for certain cases.

As of the end of April, the most popular city among repatriates from Russia and Ukraine was Netanya. A large number of repatriates also decided to move to the country's three largest cities, including Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and Haifa.
