The Israeli Ministry of Health announced that 22 new cases of infection with the Omicron coronavirus strain were detected.
The total number of confirmed cases of infection is 89. Of these, 67 were vaccinated or recovered from coronavirus in the past six months.
57 infected have recently returned to Israel from South Africa, the United Kingdom, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Hungary, Italy, Namibia, Tanzania, Germany and Turkey. Twenty-one of the infected had contact with those who returned from abroad. In another 10 cases, the infection occurred inside Israel.
According to the Ministry of Health, 150 people are suspected of being infected with the new strain.
