The number of cases of influenza is on the rise in Israel, reports The Jerusalem Post.
According to the Israel Center for Disease Control, there are a large number of hospitalized patients with influenza – about 300 Human. Most of them are infected with influenza A (H3). Among the patients are people of all ages, including children and the elderly.
At the same time, last year Israel did not register a single case of influenza in the country, probably due to quarantine and other restrictions imposed to combat with the coronavirus pandemics.
“It doesn't matter if there are more or fewer patients than in previous years. This is much more than the zero we had a year ago – and what is now very, very clear is the number of cases is on the rise, '' said Dr Avishai Alice, head of internal medicine at Beilinson Hospital.
Israeli doctors are concerned that fewer Israelis are being vaccinated against the flu this year due to “ feeling tired of the vaccine '', because they have already received three vaccinations against coronavirus.
Recall that the influenza vaccination campaign in Israel started back in September.
