Israel: record number of tests, more than 9,000 infected
According to the command of the rear services, over the past day in Israel 9,160 new people infected with coronavirus have been identified. After the data of the Ministry of Health are processed, the number of infected is likely to exceed 10 thousand.
Yesterday, on January 3, a record number of tests for coronavirus was made – 207 thousand. The maximum capacity of Israeli laboratories for analyzing tests is estimated at 175 thousand per day, so some of the results will be received with a delay.
It is assumed that omicron strains are 50-75% more infectious than delta strains. According to optimistic forecasts, the number of new infections per day may reach 30 thousand, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett says that a situation is possible in which the number of infected will exceed 50 thousand.
