In recent years, the number of forest fires in Israel has decreased markedly.
According to Rami Zaritsky, head of the forest fire safety service, in 2020 there were 1020 forest fires on an area of more than 60,000 dunams. In 2021, that number dropped to 814, and in 2022 there were 448 fires on 18,900 dunams [46,000 acres].
