Iranian media report new cases of poisoning of schoolgirls

According to local media, new cases of mysterious poisoning of Iranian schoolgirls have appeared in several provinces of Iran. This prompted calls for authorities to take action amid rising parental concerns.
Hundreds of cases have been reported since late November, mostly in the holy city of Qom, south of the capital Tehran, according to official figures released yesterday. at least 52 schools. Some students have required hospitalization.
The latest wave of poisonings has affected several students at two secondary schools in the western city of Abhar and the southwestern city of Ahwaz, the ISNA news agency reported, citing local officials.
According to ISNA, elementary school students in the western city of Zanjan were also poisoned.
