Head of Iranian Boxing Federation will not return to the country due to killings of protesters

The head of Iran's boxing federation decided not to return home from a tournament in Spain amid protests over the death of Mahsa Amini after she was arrested by the vice police for wearing the wrong hijab. "I decided not to return to Iran in order to be the voice of those whose voices are not heard by the authorities", — Hossein Suri said. Her decision reinforced the killing of dozens of protesters in Sistan-Baluchistan, a province on Iran's southeastern border with Pakistan. “I can no longer serve my dear country in a system that sheds human blood so easily,” — he added. Suri Soori has been the head of the Iranian Boxing Federation since 2017.
