Iran releases soccer player detained for criticizing regime

The Iranian authorities released on bail former footballer Voria Ghafuri and prominent dissident Hossein Ronaghi, who were detained at protests over the death of Mahsa Amini, who was detained by the vice police for wearing the wrong hijab. It is reported by AFP. Gafuri's arrest has sparked outrage as the Iranian team plays at the World Cup in Doha. Meanwhile, Ronaghi was detained shortly after the protests began in mid-September. He went on a two-month hunger strike. "Voria Gafuri and Hossein Ronaghi were released on bail", — Fars reports.
