Iran announced the arrest of members of four cells who allegedly worked for the Mossad.
According to Tehran, they planned to use the mass protests that swept the country as cover for carrying out “hybrid terrorist operations”.
According to Iran's intelligence ministry, members of the cells were captured before they could carry out their plans. The exact number of those arrested is not specified.
Massive protests in Iran began in September after the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, who was detained by the country's morality police for wearing the hijab incorrectly. Since then, Tehran has repeatedly accused Israel and the US of fomenting unrest.
