 Iran: five killed in riots

< p>

Five people have been killed during unrest in Iran following the death of 22-year-old Mehsa Amini, who was arrested by Iranian vice police and died in hospital after apparently being beaten to death.

Violent riots continue for the fourth day in a row and have spread to other parts of Iran. Human rights organizations claim that the protesters were killed by police who opened fire on the demonstrators.

Some of the protesters called for the dissolution the vice police, arguing that its efforts to enforce the hijab laws are useless and cause discrimination. The UN expressed concern about the spread of violent demonstrations and attempts by regime leaders in Tehran to suppress them by force to hold demonstrations and open an investigation into Amini's death.

Acting UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Nada Al-Nashif said there is evidence that Amini was hit on the head by the Vice Police.
