Iran is activating “hundreds” of new and improved IR6 and IR1 centrifuges for uranium enrichment.

Iranian Atomic Energy Organization (IAEO) spokesman Behruz Kamalvandi said. The activation will take place as part of the “Strategic Action Plan to Lift Sanctions and Protect the Interests of the Iranian People,” he said.

Kamalvandi said the centrifuges are reaching a minimum enrichment level of 190,000 separation work units (SWUs) for meet Iran's “level of needs”.

In the past, Iranian officials have stated that 190,000 units of separation work are needed to fuel the reactors at the Bushehr nuclear power plant and the Tehran nuclear plant.

As the Jerusalem Post notes, it will take 10 to 15 days to activate 500 IR6 machines.
