 Flu vaccination starts in Israel

Maccabi Health Insurance Fund announced on Monday the start of vaccinations against the influenza virus.

Vaccines will be administered at first-aid posts and medical centers across the country, the Jerusalem Post reported.

“We are facing a difficult winter in terms of the incidence of influenza in the southern hemisphere and in Australia in particular. That is why we expect a significant incidence of influenza in Israel this winter. Influenza, despite public opinion, can be severe and lead to various complications and even death, especially among risk groups such as the elderly, the chronically ill, children and infants, and pregnant women,” said head nurse Tami Alkalai.
