Incredible story: escaped the war in Ukraine and repatriated to Gush Etzion

The incredible story of Inna Berkman, a 90-year-old elderly Holocaust survivor: fleeing the horrors of war in Ukraine, for the second time in her life, she repatriated to a settlement Eldad in Gush Etzion. This was reported by the press service of the Council of Settlements of Judea and Samaria. “I was ten years old when the Nazis approached Kharkov, my parents and I fled by train and traveled for about a month in difficult conditions until we reached Novosibirsk. We lived there in a harsh winter of minus 17 degrees, and a year later my parents managed to send me to my grandmother who had fled from Moscow to Kazakhstan. At the end of the war, we again moved to Kyiv, where I finished school, got married and started a family,” says Berkman. About a month ago, when war broke out in Ukraine, Inna was forced to stop her usual life again, but this time at the age of 90. About a month ago, when war broke out in Ukraine, Inna was forced to stop her usual life again, but this time at the age of 90. Thanks to the Jewish community, of which she was a member, Inna, together with her 60-year-old daughter, was able to leave for Moldova, and from there repatriate to Israel – to the settlement of Eldad in Gush Etzion. "I am happy to be here in Israel. We were very warmly received at the Eldad settlement, welcomed and taken care of for all our needs. It is very difficult to go this way again, but we try to keep a good mood and live our lives,” says Inna.
