In the US, they found out how COVID affects the psyche of adolescents

The coronavirus is seriously affecting the mental health of teenagers. The corresponding conclusions were made at the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention following a study in which four thousand high school students participated. Most adolescents during the pandemic experienced negative events that seriously affected their psyche. According to scientists, there has been an increase in suicide attempts. “Polls in 2021 show that 37.1% of U.S. high school students reported poor mental health during the pandemic. 19.9% considered the possibility and 9% tried to commit suicide, – reports the CDC. About three-quarters of American high school students experienced at least one adverse event in 2021, such as emotional, physical, financial hardship, cyberbullying, or rape. About 8% of those surveyed reported four or more adverse effects of COVID. They had mental problems 4 times more often, and suicidal tendencies — 25 times more likely than those who did not experience adverse events.
