The Omicron coronavirus strain caused the mass hospitalization of children in the United States, reports AP.
During the week of December 22-28, hospitals with coronavirus were admitted daily to the average 378 children under the age of 17, up 66% from last week, according to the CDC.
The previous high was recorded in early September, when the average number of hospitalized with COVID-19 children numbered 342 every day, according to the CDC.
The CDC also clarified that to date, since the start of the vaccination campaign for children from five years old in the United States, almost 14% of minors are fully vaccinated. This figure is even higher for adolescents in the 12-17 age group, where it is about 53%.
