Wheat grown in greenhouses with a record yield in the Netherlands < /p>

As the war in Ukraine shows an over-reliance on a few breadbaskets around the world, the Dutch company Infarm produces climate-resistant greenhouse-grown wheat. The new method can guarantee high yields and diversify production options.

The company grows wheat on a closed farm without soil, chemical pesticides and minimal water use.
26 times the yield of open field wheat, producing the equivalent of 117 tons per hectare, while the average yield of wheat is 4.5 tons.

“Our record yield could potentially be increased by another 50 % in the coming years through a combination of advanced genetics, hardware and an optimized growth environment”, – says Guy Galonskaya, CTO and co-founder of Infarm.
