In the Netherlands, after the New Year's Eve, 20 people were taken to the Rotterdam Ophthalmological Hospital due to fireworks.
According to NOS, they were injured eye.
According to ophthalmologist Tjord de Faber, six of the victims were seriously injured. Most of the patients were injured by decorative fireworks. One of the wounded is blind in one eye, six have irreversible injuries.
“People think that decorative fireworks are safer, but they are not,” the doctor explained, explaining that the injury was caused by the wind, because of which sparks scattered in different directions.
