Consulate of Ukraine was evacuated in the Czech Republic because of a suspicious package

The Ukrainian consulate in the Czech Republic (city of Brno) was evacuated this morning. The reason for this was a suspicious package that was delivered to the diplomatic mission. This was reported by the press service of the Czech police.

“This morning, the Ukrainian consulate received a suspicious package similar to those delivered to Spain. We check the package by x-ray. The consulate and the nearest neighboring buildings, including a kindergarten, were evacuated,” the statement said.

According to police spokesman Dawid Chaloupka, six employees were evacuated from the building. Law enforcement officers are on the scene.
Subsequently, the local police reported that the package did not contain explosives.

“We ask all employees of consulates located in the Czech Republic and business companies that produce materials for weapons , be extremely careful when checking incoming mail, and call 158 if in any doubt. We ask the public to spread this warning,” the police added.
