Two Russians arrested in Thailand for begging

Thai police arrested two Russian citizens for begging.

According to Pattaya Now, 32-year-old Alexander Kurikov and 36-year-old Evgeny Malakhov were detained.

During the festival in Surat Thani, people asked for food and money from passers-by in the city center. They were sitting with signs on which the following was written in English and Thai: “Help! I fled Russia from the war, I lost my business, I don't want to go back to Russia. Can you help by donating something? Do you have food for me?”.

One of them also played the guitar, asking for help. The Russians told law enforcement that they moved to Thailand on December 9 and spent all their savings during this time. As long as the men have tourist visas, they will not be expelled from the country. The Russians face a fine of 10 thousand baht.
