The Mayor of San Pedro Huamelula (Mexico) Victor Hugo Sosa married a female alligator named “Little Princess”.

The reptile was dressed up in a white dress and held a solemn ceremony.

According to the Daily Mail, Mayor Sosa danced with an alligator and even kissed the reptile's face. At the same time, the alligator's jaws were bandaged for safety.

The wedding was held in the old tradition, according to which the alligator symbolizes Mother Earth, and marriage means the union of man with the divine. Following tradition, the city's residents hope for abundance – rains, which means food and fish.

It is noted that the mayors of San Pedro Huamelula marry reptiles every year. This tradition has been going on since the 18th century.
