In the Latvian city of Marupe, a fire broke out at the Edge Autonomy drone factory. The devices made at this plant were handed over to Ukraine. This was reported by Delfi.

The fire broke out after lunch on February 7th. Firefighters arrived at the scene trying to extinguish the fire. As a result of the fire, strong smoke was formed. Residents are urged to close windows and doors at home and turn off ventilation. 50 firefighters arrived at the scene, 9 tank trucks, 3 ladder trucks, as well as a rescue team from the Riga airport with the only tanker truck in Latvia with a capacity of 35 tons of water were involved.

Edge Autonomy confirmed that their production was on fire, however, further comment was declined. Janis Vilmanis, deputy director of the company, said that the fire caused a lot of damage, but its exact scale is still unknown. The cause of the fire is also under investigation.
Edge Autonomy was founded in 2009. Now the company is one of the leading drone suppliers in the world, exporting its products to more than 70 countries, including Ukraine.
