In Germany, a neural network was taught to control traffic lights

As part of the study, German scientists conducted an experiment at a busy intersection, where they installed a system with radars and high-resolution cameras.

The system recorded the average speed of cars with which they passed this intersection, as well as the number of vehicles waiting for the traffic light to switch.

Further, in order to reduce the waiting time at the intersection, AI entered the work, which, based on the collected data, simulated virtual traffic control schemes. Artificial intelligence managed to optimize the flow of vehicles by 10-15%.
