In Canada, in just five years, the polar bear population in the western Hudson Bay has declined by 27%. In 2021, only 618 animals lived in this area, while in 2016 there were none 842.

This is reported by the BBC, citing data from the Canadian government.

The report says that adult bears and cubs are particularly affected, and climate change may be a factor in reducing numbers.
