 Temperature above 40 degrees first recorded in Britain

For the first time in the UK, air temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius were recorded.

According to the Met Office, a temperature of +40.2 was reported at Heathrow Airport.

It is noted that this is a preliminary record, because the temperature will continue to rise.

Just over an hour ago, another record was set: + 39.1 degrees Celsius in Charlwood.
