In Brazil, children from 5 to 11 years old will be vaccinated against COVID-19

The Brazilian Ministry of Health has authorized the vaccination of children aged 5 to 11 against coronavirus. The head of the department, Marcelo Keiroga, told reporters about it.

“Children aged 5 to 11 years old -” the future of our country & ndash; deserve special attention, they must be vaccinated with a special vaccine developed by Pfizer and BioNTech & quot ;, & ndash; said the minister during a press conference, broadcast on the channel of the Ministry of Health in Youtube, writes France24.

Keyroga also said that 400 million doses for vaccination against coronavirus have now been distributed in the country. In Brazil, 80% of the population over the age of 12 is currently vaccinated.

Deputy Minister for Counteracting Coronavirus Rosanna Leiti de Melo explained that when children are vaccinated, a preliminary examination by a pediatrician is required. If a child is vaccinated in the absence of a parent, they must fill out the appropriate consent form.

When vaccinating children from 5 to 11 years old, the interval between vaccinations will be eight weeks, rather than three, as in adults. This will help reduce the risks of side effects, the department explained.
