The German Duden dictionary states that the word “Jew” (Jude) is discriminatory.

The president of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, Josef Schuster, criticized the dictionary for this designation, published in an online article.

“For me, the word” Jew ” ; is neither a curse nor discrimination. Even if the word “Jew” used in a derogatory tone in schoolyards, and Duden's editors acted in the best of intentions, referring to this context, everything should be done to avoid fixing this term as discriminatory”, — Schuster said in a comment to the Deutsche Presse-Agentur.

The head of the Duden editorial group, Katrin Kunkel-Reason, told the Deutsche Presse-Agentur that the editors take criticism very seriously. According to her, the disclaimer itself can be perceived as discriminatory.
