IDF: Israeli sniper may have shot 16-year-old Palestinian woman by mistake

The IDF said that with a “high probability” A 16-year-old Palestinian girl may have been accidentally shot by a Magawa sniper during an operation in Jenin on Sunday.

A preliminary investigation into the incident revealed that 16-year-old Yana (Jena) Majdi Assam Zakarna appeared to be standing next to terrorists who shot at the soldiers from the roof. The Israeli military might have mistaken the girl for a terrorist.

“After an initial investigation, it was determined that the murdered girl had been injured as a result of inadvertent firing by armed terrorists on a rooftop in the area where the fire was fired from. It turns out that she was on the roof of one of the houses next to the militants. The allegation that the security forces deliberately fired on unidentified civilians is implausible and unfounded. Security forces will continue to investigate the incident and are working to clarify its circumstances,” the IDF said in a statement circulated on Twitter. %5Etfw[/embed]
