IDF delegation in Turkey forced to surrender weapons

The search and rescue delegation of the IDF, which arrived in earthquake-hit Turkey as part of Operation Olive Branches, was forced to hand over their weapons.

This is reported by Ynet, citing a confirmation of this information from the Israel Defense Forces.

It will be clarified that Turkish officials told the Israeli team that they would have to surrender their weapons, since rescuers from other countries arrived without them, respectively, and the Israelis should not have them.

According to the publication, the delegation's assertions that the situation for rescuers from Israel is different from the risk for representatives of other countries, as well as the intervention of the embassy in Ankara, did not affect the decision of the local authorities. As a result, the Israelis surrendered their weapons, instead they were provided with Turkish guards.
