IDF arrests 5 settlers for attacking Palestinian vehicles and soldiers

The IDF reports that this morning a group of settlers attacked soldiers who were trying to prevent them from throwing stones at Palestinian vehicles.

According to the military, the troops were sent to the scene near the town of Al-Mugayir, 12 kilometers southeast of Jenin, after receiving reports that vehicles belonging to Palestinians were being stoned.

“When the IDF arrived at the scene, they found several masked suspects throwing rocks at a Palestinian truck,” — the press service of the army reported.

The IDF reported that the soldiers fired into the air, but the suspects refused to disperse. The troops then fired tear gas at the group.

Five suspects were detained and handed over to the police for further questioning.

The incident came amid a series of violence by settlers against Israeli forces and after major riots in the Palestinian city of Hawara.
