 Hurricane Nicole hits the east coast of Florida

On November 10, Hurricane Nicole hit the east coast of Florida, bringing heavy rain and dangerous storm winds that are forecast to reach North Carolina.


The storm has reached south of Vero Beach, according to the National Hurricane Center around 3 am local time. The wind speed was 121 kilometers per hour.

Governor Ron DeSantis declared a state of emergency in 34 counties. 23 school districts canceled classes on Thursday. According to Kinetic Analysis Corp., damage from the hurricane could exceed $2 billion. Storm warnings have been issued from Florida to South Carolina. Forecasters warn that up to 20 centimeters of rain may fall in the region.

DeSantis has warned residents that power outages are possible. About 16,000 utility workers are trained to urgently repair failed lines.
