A blizzard in Croatia over the weekend brought traffic to a standstill and left parts of the country cut off, writes the Associated Press. As a result, hundreds of people in Croatia spent the night in their cars or at gas stations.

Croatian authorities announced on Monday, February 27, that the roads leading to the Adriatic coast and back remain closed due to snow and strong winds. The media reported that cars and buses were parked along the main Croatian highway, waiting to move on.
About 300 people remained at the reception points that were set up due to the situation, said Natalia Turbic, a local employee of the service emergency services in Gračac in central Croatia. Others were looking for places in the private sector in the area, she said.
State television HRT reported that hundreds of people who were unable to reach reception points remained on buses and cars or looked for nearby cafes at gas stations that opened their doors to stranded motorists and passengers.
According to HRT, people were lying on the floor or sleeping on chairs. Among those stranded along the way was a group of football fans, who were traveling from the capital Zagreb to the coastal city of Split.
