Hundreds of Haredi demonstrators, many of whom were teenagers, protested on Monday against the construction of a light rail system in Jerusalem.
The demonstration took place on Bar Ilan Street, where construction is taking place.
Police said protesters blocked traffic for two hours and that some of them illegally entered the construction site in an attempt to damage equipment. The demonstrators also burned garbage cans, damaged the fence around the construction site, and insulted officers and city workers.
The police used crowd control devices. Four people were arrested.
At the same time, according to the Times of Israel, footage appeared online of one of the policemen repeatedly beating one of the young demonstrators while the officers were standing nearby.
