 How to choose a TV

Modern manufacturers offer customers a huge number of TV models with different sets of characteristics. It can be difficult for ordinary people to understand the whole variety of options. To choose a TV with the most acceptable characteristics and not overpay, follow the parameters below.

Diagonal

One of the basic parameters when choosing a TV. The larger the screen, the more immersive the experience will be. However, you should not buy the largest TV. It is desirable that the distance to the screen is 1.2 – 2.5 m. Accordingly, for a 40-inch TV, the minimum distance should be 1.2 – 2.5 m, and for a 65-inch device – 2 – 4 m.

Resolution

This value affects the level of detail in an image. There are currently 4 options on the market:

  1. HD (1280 x 720). This option is obsolete. But at the same time, it is ideal for watching TV channels and movies on a screen with a diagonal of no more than 32 inches. Typically, this resolution is present in the most budget models.
  2. Full HD (1920 x 1080). It is currently the most popular option as most of the content is available in 1080 resolution. But it is gradually being replaced by 4K.
  3. UHD or 4K (3840 × 2160). In the next couple of years, this “young” format will become the main one. This is ideal for watching YouTube videos, movies and games from the Internet. But for watching TV programs it is worse than Full HD.

Matrix technology

One of the most popular is the technology based on liquid crystals &ndash ; LED. Such panels have a minimum thickness and are in high demand. There are two types of LCD panels: IPS and VA. In the first version, liquid crystal molecules are arranged parallel to the display plane (this position provides a good viewing angle), and in the second – perpendicular to the screen, resulting in rich blacks. Also on sale there are more expensive models with an improved matrix, which is referred to as QLED.
