 Hotel and residential complex collapsed in Turkey

Flooding and downpours have seriously damaged a thermal hotel under construction in the Turkish city of Düzce. Heavy rains led to flooding of roads, and even to the collapse of a new block of one of the already operating hotels right into the river.

Turkish media reports that this is a Derdin Thermal Resort Spa complex, which includes a hotel and a partially built residential the complex is partially operational. Flood waters also threatened the already built hotel buildings, damaged the restaurant and vegetation on the site under construction, and the river overflowed, washed away to collapse. However, the hotel management has already stated that it plans to resume its work in three months.

The city of Düzce is located in the north-west of Turkey, at a distance of just over 200 km from both Istanbul and Ankara, and all 30 km from the Black Sea. As a resort, SPA is mainly used by local tourists.
